We left Shreveport on our long drive to Texarkana TX (about 70 miles), about an hour and a half drive... pretty tiring you think?
This stay is at at Corp of Engineer park at Wright Patman Lake, with two sections, Rocky Point and Piney Point. Our site is in Rocky Point.
The site is a short walk to the lake... and even shorter to the bathroom. The nice thing about being close to the bathroom is using their water for business and showers, and not worry about water storage issues.Carol and I took a walk around the campground the first day we were here, about a mile round trip.
Over near our site is the beach and a hiking trail. The hiking trail go between the two campgrounds.Again the rain and COVIDS have put a slight damper on touristy stuff. In between the rain I took a hike on that trail between the campgrounds.
With the name of the trial I was expecting it meander along the water... not a chance.I walked most of the trail, about a mile and a quarter, before I lost it. I got to an old logging trail... and lost it. I figured I wasn't far from the endpoint, but I wasn't going to wander the forest and become a statistic, so I returned back to the start.Carol and I took a walk to the beach the day after it stopped raining... maybe it wasn't the best decision. The weather turned a lot cooler, and windier, and we found the mud good for covering shoes. One thing we didn't think about was the mud. I thought it would be sandy, and that was incorrect. The walk done to the beach started at the campground grass, then turned to soft soil... then sand. To get to the concrete walkway is where the trap was set, fortunately we did not sink too deep in the mud. It was still a fun short walk.
If you noticed in the earlier photos, there are a lot of trees at this campground. What comes with trees? how about squirrels, quite a few at that, one is even a Raiders fan.Look atop the Raider's pennant. Wildlife with good taste.
There appears to be good fishing in this lake, there are a lot of boats with fishing poles hanging on them. There other boats here as well for pleasure. The rain spoiled a couple of those days.
The squirrels ARE prevalent here, and not afraid to let you know they are here. I was playing on the computer when I noticed this guy checking our grills out for leftovers. He was checking the drip tray, and trying to figure out how he could get into it.
We have been told that if one is willing to get up around 3:00 am, you might see raccoons milling about.

Some of Carol's relatives live in the area, and came to visit. It was a beautiful day, the sun was out and there was just a slight breeze... nothing requiring parkas to sit outside. We had an early dinner, sat by the fire and chatted, and got to see deer. Unfortunately the deer were probably a hundred yards away, so Carol had to zoom in.
The next day it was back into our departure routine, Carol does laundry, I prep the trailer. It was also Carol's day out. She did laundry at Mike and Michelle's house, then hit the flea market. From here we head into Arkansas for a few days.
We recommend Wright Patman Lake. Our choice for campground would be the Rocky Point side, the sites are spaced farther apart.
We will see you further down the road.
