LAST SUNRISE AT CORPUS CHRISTI
We made it to two more attractions, the Selena Museum, and the Botanical Gardens.
For those that were fans of Selena, Carol convinced me to go, and it was an ok museum. Her family wanted to ensure that her name was not forgotten, and in Corpus Christi that's hard to do. For the true lover of Selena there was the museum, a memorial, the house she grew up in, and her grave site. We did not visit the house or grave site.
Ok, there you have it... not true, we did go inside. The museum is at the studio she use to record at.
SELENA AND FAMILY
Apparently as a child Selena wanted to sing and have her own clothing line... she accomplished both. Most of the museum is some of her costumes, letters from fans, and an interview from a magazine.
Oh, did I forget her cosmetic line:
There you go, the museum only takes about an hour to look and read everything. YES, they have a gift shop, so Carol bought a surprise for our daughter-in-law. We left the museum and drove over to the memorial.
Selena was a loved resident of Corpus Christi, and the family did do a real good job keeping her memory alive.
The next day we went out into the heat and humidity to look at flowers. The botanical garden was a bit of a disappointment, with exception of the orchids, but I'll show you some of the other plants, reptiles and birds hangin' around; all the reptiles are rescues.
The garden also had several refuges for birds, and a butterfly house. Unfortunately the butterfly house didn't have a lot of butterflies, but here they are:
This was too painless, so we prepped for Kerrville, TX.
