Home Again

Coming home from Midland, TX required us to travel part of I-20 that was under construction, which was right at the campground location.

At this point were just looking for a sign, and there it was...

That's right, out of one construction area, and into another, something that has to be expected during summer months. A little more driving and back at home we were.

Doesn't look much different than when we left in May, except for a few landscaping issues. While we were gone there was a major windstorm that blew through wreaking havoc, and we didn't escape its fury. The tree toward the back of the truck... lost a major limb that came out toward the street, a tree in the back lost a limb that fell into our neighbors clothes line, and a limb on the tree next to the 5th wheel had a broken limb resting on two other limbs in the tree. If all three limbs had given way, there would have been damage to the 5th wheel. My other landscaping challenge was a tree I was trying to kill, but it came back with a vengeance, requiring lots of pruning. The tree to the side of the 5th wheel needed a bit of TLC too. While working on getting rid of the damaged limbs, I noticed that one of the major limbs had a crack that ran about 12 inches, and could be seen through. I had to remove more branches to relieve the stress on that damaged limb.

I finally got all the trees trimmed and the yard waste out to the yard waste pile. Not more than a couple of days later we had a major storm pass through, part of one of the hurricanes that hit the east coast. One of the storms was not so nice to the area, throwing hail at us for almost a half hour. Here is what the hail looked like:

SKYLIGHT OVER KITCHEN

There was no water intrusion from the kitchen skylight.

When we got home it was necessary to take the small trailer in for maintenance, no big deal... until I brought it home.

I took the little guy in for brake check, bearing re-pack, and some warranty work on the refrigerator and kitchen sink faucet. The dealer is waiting for a response from the manufacturer regarding the refrigerator, but they did work on the kitchen faucet.

The dealer said they could not find any issue I had described to them about the faucet, so I brought the trailer home. What you see in the above photos of water on the counter and floor was from their testing the faucet. They forgot to turn off the water pump, and left the faucet on, which drained what water was left in the tank... thank goodness they drained the tank before I picked up the trailer.

Anyway, I called the dealer when I got home and questioned them about how they tested the faucet without putting the aerator back in to the faucet. You are probably saying, what is the big deal. The reason I wanted them to look at the faucet was because the aerator was blowing out of the retaining piece on the end of the faucet. It blew out so many times, we just left it out. Come to find out the reason they had no problem was because they never installed it during their testing.

Well folks, enjoy your holiday seasons, and if we travel anymore this winter I will post our adventure.
