We were excited about getting a lot to call home for the winter. With that said, we headed to claim it, but first we stopped in Deming, NM for a few days. Besides the fact it was too far to travel in a day, we needed to restock our wine supply from St. Claire Winery.
If I look angry, I'm not, I was fighting some Arizona crud I got at Escapade. This winery has phenomenal wines, especially their dessert and port wines, which I stock up on every time we hit Deming.
On the road to our new sanctuary in Lakewood. We arrived to find them cleaning up the lot for us. Without further ado... here is our new winter home...
It may not look like much, but it was what we were looking for, a place to park the rig, and a view."The Ranch" sits within a working cattle ranch. As the story is told, the founders of Escapees (SKP) knew the owner of the ranch. The husband and the rancher climbed into a helicopter, the SKP founder said he wanted this particular piece of land...and it was so. The folks here are great people to be around, which makes it easy to live here, plus we already knew four or five couples. If you go looking for Lakewood on the map, don't expect much. The post office is so large, it fits in a double-wide trailer, about a mile from the SKP park.
Our future plans include pouring parking and patio slabs...and that's about all we're going to add, oh, maybe a clothesline too.
We stayed there five days before heading up to Kirkland AFB near Albuquerque, which is only a short stopover on the way to the grandchildren.
