We got on the road for party time in Tucson... better known as Escapade 62. This year the rally would have over 800 RVs attending. We arrived early as staff, so that we could get our respective areas ready. Carol was the Seminar Coordinator, and I was the Receiving and Handling guru. My role was actually more of a go-fer, whether it be water to the troops, material arriving for the market vendors, or getting mail. My more important responsibility was handling mail for the attendees, which allowed me to change my job title. I decided to change my title to "Mail Relocator Facilitator"... I was the boy that moved the mail from the fairgrounds office, to our mailroom.
This was one of my deliveries for a vendor... by any means necessary. Yes, it was OSHA approved... I carried my OSHA certification card. For those of you that have not heard me speak about our annual rally, they can be fun once the other attendees arrive. Each rally has a theme, and with that is an opportunity to have a picture taken at the themed photo booth, which Carol and I didn't have to be concerned with this year.
This year they went all out on the budget for the photo booth. The purple lights you see in this photo rotate through a variety of other colors. Here is a nice sunset, with some of the early arrival RVs.
There was a scare of rain during the event, but fortunately the rain bypassed us, and we had to settle for very windy days that were chilly... as opposed to the 100° days we had back in 2019.
This years theme color was purple, Carol's favorite color, which means we couldn't resist being ourselves, and dragged friends in with us.
One of the food truck vendors this year was Mexican food which was pretty good.
This here is a bacon wrapped burrito. This burrito was a two meal burrito. The one on the left is what it looked like before it was cut in half. Besides this food truck, they had one serving ice cream, smoothies, and shakes, and one serving BBQ.News update - our third try at the new window arrived just after we arrived...yeah.
Truly, third time was a charm. I managed to get it installed in between raindrops before Escapade started. The company appeared to be relieved that it was correct this time.It appeared that there was a very important reason for us coming to this Escapade... we were destined to become lot owners at one of the Escapee parks.
Remember I said that there were daily themes, if you don't, its ok, I didn't say, but there were. The Hawaiian theme day allowed me to dress up as a pirate, and veterans theme allowed my to go hog wild with the hair chalk.
Before you ponder about how long it took to get the color out... soap and water during a shower.
There are many other characters at these events...
For all of you who think you got on the ground floor with your electric car, look at this...
These here are electric trucks from 1916... so there. What you are seeing on the truck bed is the battery bank for the truck, which goes in the empty space between the wheels.
Besides the seminars that Carol watched over, there were other events for attendees to enjoy. You may have heard it said - its all fun and games until someone sticks their chip in the wrong dip... if not, I just said it.
This here was a competition between 39 dip recipes competing to raise the most money for the Escapee C.A.R.E. facility in Texas. You probably have never heard of C.A.R.E., it is unique to Escapees. The facility allows members a place to park their rigs while receiving medical attention from C.A.R.E. staff. There was only one bugger outcome from Escapade, and that was me getting sick from all the pollen, and dust blowing around, but we did manage to leave and head to our new property in New Mexico.
See ya there.
